Anyone Else Have Tinnitus?

I know heaps of people have it, but does anyone like me, only hear it (most of the time) when there is no other sorrounding sounds. Like when i am around a tv or a computer, i can’t really notice the sounds in my ears, but mainly i can when i put my head against a pillow, or wear ear muffs. The most annoying part of what i have is, when i am in a room with no sound, or outside and it is quiet, it sounds like a motor running in my head, so i always sleep with the fan on and music, otherwise its too annoying. Anyone else have this?

Can tinnitus manifest itself as two different sounds in both ears? My left ear has had a high pitched ringing for years, and now my right ear has a low pulsing hum. Is this normal or is it something else? I am a 23 year old seemingly healthy male.

The pulsating hum is new .. maybe 1 month old.. and does not go with my heart beat – it is much slower. I take Claritin D daily, rarely use Motrin IB for back pain and never more than 400mg in a dose. I was on a Prednisone oral 10 day schedule starting with 50mg back in January, and I had a 40mg Kenalog injection in mid-February. I have cut caffeine out of my diet, and I quit smoking entirely (never more than 1 a day previously… usually 3 a week so not heavy.)

I can’t figure this out! I have googled to no avail, and I am hesitant to go to the doctor because I am unemployed and have no insurance. When the left ear ringing began, they told me the ringing was permanent and to just live with it.

    Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.
I had a hearing test when I was 14 and the initial ringing started. They found minimal loss of hearing and said it was most likely from an ear infection and it may or may not be permanent.

Fast forward 9 years, I have taken great care with my ears. I have only been to maybe 4 or 5 indoor concerts with loud music lasting 1-2hrs each. I realized this was dumb and haven’t gone to one in about 3 years. I even avoid movie theatres because the sound is too loud for my taste.

As for the medicine, I stopped taking Claritin-D and this problem started up. I had a congested left ear for a month which wouldn’t clear and I took it daily during winter as well as Nasonex to clear that up. Could this be related?

I don’t think this would be a big problem if it was sort of the same tune. Its like the opposite sound in my right ear and extremely annoying because it pulses and is hard to cover up.

I used to play the drum set in 6th and 7th grade and didn’t wear ear plus for 10 or so times but I beat the living crap out of the drum set which left me with a ringing noise in my ear but it was not permanent.

Next I have had trouble with wax in my ears and was wondering maybe if it is caused by wax. The Ear and Nose Specialist said that I just have tinnitus from noise but i feel as if there is something in my ear. They said I am still in the normal hearing for my age and I really want it to go away.

Anyone have any ideas of if it is Noise-induced tinnitus. P.S: I rarely listen to music on my ipod and I have only been to a few dances for about 2 hours each but stayed away from the speakers. Please help me

    Ear paid/acid reflux?

    Hi

A couple of weeks ago I got water in my ear when in the bath and since then I’ve had a muffled feeling in my ear, it hasnt been hurtin its just muffled and it has been getting worse, I bought some wax remover drops last night and it cleared up abit but now it has started to hurt quite a lot – I had an ear infection in the same ear a couple of months ago! Anyone who has had an ear infection knows how painful that can be! I have an appointment with the nurse on Tuesday as I was going to see about having my ears syringed now I think I’ve probably developed an infection!

Also – the last couple of days I have been suffering from really horrible acid reflux – ive never had it before in my life and god is it horrible! Ive been taking Gaviscon which has been a life saver but I want to find out why I have it – I move house over the weekend and my mother in law thinks I’m probably getting run down because I’m stressed and obviously dont want to be ill over the weekend!

Please help – I feel like everything is going wrong! ha ha

Tinnitus for no reason, please help?

    Hey guys,

Yesterday I was touching my ear and for no apparent reason it started making a noticable shooshing and riniging sound. I have never been to a concert and always have ear plugs in my ears during any noise over 70dB so I don’t get how it would of happened. But I do have an Outer Ear Infection which I’m trying to get rid of, maybe that’s the cause? I don’t know, can someone help? The ringing is noticable and it has been going on for almost 2 days so far. Help?

    Thanks
