I know heaps of people have it, but does anyone like me, only hear it (most of the time) when there is no other sorrounding sounds. Like when i am around a tv or a computer, i can’t really notice the sounds in my ears, but mainly i can when i put my head against a pillow, or wear ear muffs. The most annoying part of what i have is, when i am in a room with no sound, or outside and it is quiet, it sounds like a motor running in my head, so i always sleep with the fan on and music, otherwise its too annoying. Anyone else have this?
Hey guys. This past Wednesday I went out with a friend shooting his new .380ACP, I only fired 3 rounds but that was without hearing protection. I noticed a slight discomfort in my ears later that night, almost like ’stuffy’ feeling, as if I’d shoved a cotton ball in each.
Prior to this, over the course of about the last 6 months, I’d say I fired around 8/9 rounds of .40S&W without ear protection also (although I did have my hood up, It couldn’t have done much to help). Wednesday night when I got home, I looked into it & did some reading and it really woke me up to the damage I’ve caused/would cause if I continued doing so. I’ve always worn ear protection on the range, even plinking around, but these few times (2 or 3 occasions) I’d been left empty-handed since it was spur of the moment decisions to go up in the woods to shoot a few rounds. Needless to say, I will NEVER think twice about shooting again without plugs, muffs, or both.
I have made an appointment with my doctor, just to get an overall idea of the damage I might have caused. I was well aware of the dangers of shooting without protection, though I did not know that just a few rounds can impair your hearing for good; since I wasn’t going to make a habit out of shooting without protection anyway. I was just curious if you guys have any input on this. Like I said, I’ve made an appointment already, I’m just trying to get little comfort out of this & settle my nerves because I’ve been a little worried. I’m only 20 years old & I don’t want hearing loss yet, hearing loss that comes with age I can accept, but I can’t accept my stupidity causing it. Wednesday night, I noticed a faint ringing in my ears that sounded like a 16 kHz tone (only way I can describe it) and it has me worried that these 10/11 rounds I’ve shot might have caused me permanent Tinnitus. At times, I think I might have been just imagining it because stories I’ve read on Tinnitus make it seem that the tone is very pronounced, I don’t think it would make me second-guess it if it was truly Tinnitus. Like, when I listen for it, I can’t hear it, but when I focus on something else it comes back in my mind.. Mine is more of a very high (but quiet) frequency if that makes sense at all. I think I’m losing my mind. Thanks everyone, all in all this is a lesson learned & I urge everyone to take better care of their ears, sometimes a wake up call is needed to realize you’re doing something wrong.
hello everyone,Im 19, in about the first or second week of may i got a really really bad flu that lasted for a few days, like always I never went to the doctor because I thought it was a normal flu and i took over the counter medicine for sinus problems. Well in june the 3rd or 4th I started having really bad panic attacks(I have had panic attacks before because of acid reflux I had that made me have asthma like symptoms(shortness of breath) but it usually after the panic attack was gone i felt better. This time it got so bad that even after days had passed from my attack, I noticed that I felt dizzy all day and every time I burped I had this really annoying sound in my left ear and everytime i pass saliva, my right ear pops.I went to a ent doctor and he said he thought it was labyrinthitis and he only gave some nasal spray and betamethasone. The brain fog, unreality, surreal feeling is always there, a few weeks ago the dizziness stopped but it came back like 3 days ago and I feel like im going to loose it.I always have mucus in my throat, nose, I have blurry vision when looking at far away things, feeling panicky, eye floaters ever ytime I look at the sky, and my right ear always pops, sometimes I get a little pain in my right ear, tinnitus, every time I burp I have a really annoying wind blowing sound in my left ear like if I have something stuck in my ear, but my ears have already been checked so my doctor said it was probably inner ear. Im seeing another ENT doctor this thursday i’m so excited, but this feeling of unreality and terror I feel like im in a dream and i cant wake up, it feels like i’m going insane but im not. And the dizziness gets worst always when i walk.I have tinnitus, twitching, blurry vision from far objects,I have had pain in my right eye.I have been prescribed anti depressants and xanax before but I refuse to take them because ive heard horrible stories about it.I take seven blossoms herbal tea to calm me down Somebody please help me I cant live like this anymore, I cant go outside walking too much or I will the feel like i’m going to faint. oh and on top of it I have a random cracking sound in my throat, never had a ct scan or anything. This is ruining my social life please help any tips or anything, god bless you

Can tinnitus manifest itself as two different sounds in both ears? My left ear has had a high pitched ringing for years, and now my right ear has a low pulsing hum. Is this normal or is it something else? I am a 23 year old seemingly healthy male.
The pulsating hum is new .. maybe 1 month old.. and does not go with my heart beat – it is much slower. I take Claritin D daily, rarely use Motrin IB for back pain and never more than 400mg in a dose. I was on a Prednisone oral 10 day schedule starting with 50mg back in January, and I had a 40mg Kenalog injection in mid-February. I have cut caffeine out of my diet, and I quit smoking entirely (never more than 1 a day previously… usually 3 a week so not heavy.)
I can’t figure this out! I have googled to no avail, and I am hesitant to go to the doctor because I am unemployed and have no insurance. When the left ear ringing began, they told me the ringing was permanent and to just live with it.
Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.
I had a hearing test when I was 14 and the initial ringing started. They found minimal loss of hearing and said it was most likely from an ear infection and it may or may not be permanent.
Fast forward 9 years, I have taken great care with my ears. I have only been to maybe 4 or 5 indoor concerts with loud music lasting 1-2hrs each. I realized this was dumb and haven’t gone to one in about 3 years. I even avoid movie theatres because the sound is too loud for my taste.
As for the medicine, I stopped taking Claritin-D and this problem started up. I had a congested left ear for a month which wouldn’t clear and I took it daily during winter as well as Nasonex to clear that up. Could this be related?
I don’t think this would be a big problem if it was sort of the same tune. Its like the opposite sound in my right ear and extremely annoying because it pulses and is hard to cover up.
